Goals for the Division of Student Affairs
2001-2002

1. Strengthen the outcome-based assessment process for each department/program:
A. Learning Outcomes
Recruitment
Student Satisfaction
B. Use individual department reports for an overall divisional assessment in relation to the mission statement of the University.
C. Initiate a student needs assessment survey.

2. Develop a comprehensive plan to create a community through the involvement of:
The Ogden Campus
The Davis Campus
and Online Students
This will actively involve every department within the division.

3. Provide and implement an overall plan and process to restore the Union's role in delivering efficient and effective programs and services which support the University Community.

4. Make every attempt to diversify the professional, classified and paraprofessional staff of the division of Student Affairs.

5. Identify and implement specific working partnerships with academic departments and other university areas which will result in increased student learning opportunities.

6. Provide leadership for the construction of new student housing and the development of related student services.

7. Initiate a comprehensive needs survey for the Davis Campus students, both undergraduate and graduate. Relevant departments will each provide a comprehensive written plan for the delivery of service to students at the Davis Campus.

8. Utilize technology in ways which will enhance each student's educational experience, serve each student's online educational needs and improve internal interface with the campus process.

9. Provide leadership for the successful hosting of the Olympic experience at WSU.

10. Provide leadership on key issues pertaining to food service's role, expectations, and financial success.

 

Division Expectations

1. There will be an advisory board for each Student Affairs Deparatment and, where relevant, a task force should also be formed for specific programs.

2. Annual departmental assessments will be based on national best practices, and each department will ensure that:
    a. A list of goals and measurable outcomes, both qualitative and quantitative, are published online.
    b. the assessment process is compared with the data and process of the previous year.

3. Each department will be responsible for planning and responding to the needs of a diverse and changing student population. Services for Multicultural Students, Services for Students with Disabilitieis, Services for Women Students, and the Diversity Center will have primary responsibility for programs which enhance the retention of students.

4. Each department head will be responsible for developing and maintaining a current web site.

5. Each department head will be responsible to insure that all staff members achieve required computer competencies.
