Student Affairs Division Goals / Expectations 2000-2001

 

Goals for the Division of Student Affairs
2000-01

1. Strengthen relationships with faculty, administration, staff and students through their continued involvement on advisory boards and other departmental committees and initiatives.

2. Complete the transition of housing management to Century Campus Housing Management (CCHM).

3. Provide leadership to create comprehensive planning for the building of new student housing and related student services.

4. Understand, be proactive and respond to the needs of a diverse community in the planning and implementation of each program and service.

5. Establish and implement outcome-based assessments for each department/program.

6. Develop on-going student leadership opportunities, including a series of training programs for prospective and current student leaders.

7. Strenthen out-of-class educational and developmental opportunities and other support services at the Davis Campus.

8. Utilize technology in ways which will enhance each student's educational experience, serve each student's online educational needs, and improve internal procedures.

9. Implement a comprehensive staff development program.

Division Expectations

1. There will be an advisory board for each Student Affairs Department and, where relevant, advisory boards should also be formed for specific programs.

2. Annual departmental assessments will be based on national best practices, and each department will ensure that:
    a. A list of goals and measurable outcomes, both qualitative and quantitative, are on file no later than October 1, 2000.
    b. The assessment process is tested during the first semester of 2000-01.
    c. A full scale assessment program is implemented in the second semester of 2000-01. Assessment reports of the individual departments will be due May 31.

3. Each department will be responsible for planning and responding to the needs of a diverse and changing student population. Services for Multicultural Students, Services for Students with Disabilities and Services for Women Students will have primary responsibility for programs which enhance the retention of students from under represented populations as federally defined.

4. Each department head will be responsible to develop and maintain a current web site. Training for staff will be provided.

5. Each department head will be responsible to insure that all staff members achieve required computer competencies.

6. All members of the Student Affairs Division are expected to participate in fund raising initiatives as appropriate.
