DAVIS CAMPUS STUDENT AFFAIRS
MISSION STATEMENT
2000-2001
The Student Affairs Office supports the Academic Mission of Weber State University and is dedicated to the personal growth and development of all students by administering and correlating a comprehensive range of programs and services at the Davis Campus and through the Ogden Campus.
Student Affairs seeks to expand and enrich the university experience through the services rendered and by providing social, cultural, and educational programs.
Student Affairs accepts the shared responsibility for fostering a spirit of campus community and inclusivity while striving to develop campus relationships and working interconnectedness .
Student Affairs engages students in active, life-long learning by empowering them through opportunities for leadership and service to others.
Through the excellence of the programs and services we offer, the quality of life for WSU students and the local community is enhanced.
DAVIS CAMPUS STUDENT AFFAIRS
GOALS - 2000-2001
1. To continue to determine and to meet the needs of the students on the Davis Campus through services, programs and personal involvement.
2. To continue expanding and developing partnerships with faculty, the university and local communities.
3. To develop a deliberate assessment plan based on educational outcomes and CAS Standards.
4. To promote inclusivity and diversity of students, personnel and programs.
5. T o be purposeful.
6. To develop and implement a student leadership training program for the benefit of the Davis Campus student senator, Student Council and the students who participate.
7. To use computer technology to enhance program efficiency and the delivery of services to students.
8. To continually improve staff preparation and information of current issues, trends and processes.
DAVIS CAMPUS STUDENT AFFAIRS
GOALS - 2000-2001
1. To continue assessing the needs of the students at the Davis Campus at the conclusion of each semester and
planfully meet those needs through services, programs, and personal involvement.
| A. Add a vending machine with sandwiches, yogurt, etc. by the end of Fall Semester, 2000. B. Sell soft drinks in during the evening break to begin Monday, October 2, 2000. C. Sponsor a movie on a Friday evening by the end of Spring Semester, 2001. D. Provide students the opportunity to obtain official university transcripts at the Davis Campus by the end of Spring Semester, 2001. |
2. To continue expanding and developing partnerships with faculty, staff, students and the local community.
| A. Continue to invite faculty, staff, students and members of the local community as speakers and participants for "Lunch and Learn," "Parenting in Progress," other selected programs, and service projects. B. Identify a minimum of one new target audience per semester. C. Assist in sponsoring a beginning of semester reception for faculty and student affairs professionals who will be teaching and/or providing services to the students of the Davis Campus. D. Serve on a minimum of two community committees representing Weber State each year. |
3. To develop a deliberate assessment plan based on educational outcomes, qualitative and quantitative, including
the information from the CAS Standards for the benefit of Student Affairs and students on the Davis Campus by
the end of Fall Semester, 2000.
| A. Develop a variety of evaluation processes for seminars, training programs, activities, service programs and the semester assessment and having them functional by the end of Spring Semester, 2000. |
4. To continue promoting inclusivity and diversity of students, personnel and programs.
| A. Increase the number of students participating in the Student Council/ Area Council by fifty per cent by inviting professors to have a class representative each semester. This will be initiated Fall Semester, 2000. B. Prepare and distribute Semester calendars which also list services to the members of every WSU class taught at the Davis Campus and in the local high schools beginning Fall Semester, 2000. |
5. To be purposeful!!
| A. Proactively set, accomplish, and evaluate goals and objectives each semester beginning Fall Semester, 2000. B. Improve technology skills focusing on PREP Fall Semester, 2000 and Group Wise, Spring Semester, 2001. C. Attend a regional and a national conference during the 2000-2001 academic year focusing on Student Affairs Issues identifying a minimum of one idea to implement from each. D. Continue involvement in a minimum of two community organizations representing Weber State in a positive and productive manner during this academic year - Log Star Program at HAFB, Board of Trustees for the Davis Arts and Humanities Council, Women in Business with the Davis Chamber of Commerce, and the Educational Representative on the Davis Chamber of Commerce Community Partnerships Committee. |
6. To development and implement a student leadership training program for the benefit of the
Davis Campus Student Senator, the Student Council/Area Council and the students who
participate beginning Spring Semester, 2000.
| A. Facilitate a training program at the end of the Spring Semester for training the Davis Campus student leaders and to plan for the following year . B. Develop and conduct experiential training once a month during Student Council/ Area Council meetings beginning Spring Semester, 2001. |
7. To use technology to enhance program efficiency and the delivery of services to the Davis
Campus Students.
| A. Use the list serve developed for the Davis Campus students, faculty and staff to ensure better communication for services, programs, and general information for the benefit of the campus community beginning September, 2000. B. Continually provide information for keeping the Davis Campus web pages updated. |
8. To continually improve staff preparation, information, support, and communication about
current issues, trends, processes and expectations.
| A. Prepare an expectations/investments document for the student affairs staff and use in an investments/expectations discussion with them to be reviewed every semester beginning Fall Semester, 2000. B. Prepare a list of expected duties and responsibilities to be discussed and solidified with the staff during Fall Semester, 2000. C. Meet informally with the staff once every semester beginning Fall Semester, 2000. |
